Fun Ideas for Your Restaurant for St. Patrick’s Day

Fun Ideas for Your Restaurant for St. Patrick’s Day

Whether St. Patrick’s Day is big in your city or not, you can start to think of some creative ways to foster new business and celebrate this holiday.

Every year, people celebrate Ireland’s national holiday—St. Patrick’s Day. For most Americans, it’s a day marked by drinking alcohol and having fun, particularly in any city that has a large population of Irish descendants. Between parades and festivals driving foot traffic, plus plenty more people out and about than usual, St. Patrick’s Day is a great opportunity for businesses.

Whether St. Patrick’s Day is big in your city or not, you can start to think of some creative ways to foster new business and celebrate this holiday. We’ve got a few ideas to get your restaurant started.

Guinness/Other Irish Beer

When you think of iconic Irish symbols, we think about shamrocks and yes, the Guinness harp. Though Guinness is the most famous Irish stout, it’s certainly not alone. There are many kinds of Irish beers out there and they’re all suitable for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day such as Murphy’s Stout, Smithwick’s Irish Ale, or Harp Lager. Make a point of how your restaurant is offering these traditional Irish drinks for this special day and maybe even drop them to a special price in celebration.

Irish Whiskey

Just as iconic as Irish beer is Irish whiskey. Creating a promotion for this drink can definitely draw some attention, as whiskey has become even more popular in recent years though it still isn’t as appreciated as Irish beer is. Think of a few cocktails you can incorporate Irish whiskey, like Irish coffee, which has enough caffeine to help your patrons get through a long and joyous St. Paddy’s Day celebration. Huzzah for Irish whiskey!

Irish Cuisine

What better way for your restaurant to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than a dish right from Ireland. An Irish stew with beef and potatoes is a hearty dish that will help your customers handle all their drinking. Alternatively, homemade potato cakes, boiled bacon and cabbage, or Irish soda bread are all great options.

Incorporate Irish Music

Alcohol and food are both great ways to celebrate Irish culture, but Irish pubs are also known for their atmosphere. A big part of that is the music. You might not be able to hire a local Irish band to entertain your guests (though it sure would be exciting if you did), but you can livestream an Irish band and let your customers enjoy the music that way.
