Four Types of Barware Your Establishment Needs

Four Types of Barware Your Establishment Needs

Your customers will come to you expecting their drinks to be served in the appropriate barware, and you don’t want to skimp on your glasses!

When you run a bar, you need it to look the part. Your customers will come to you expecting their drinks to be served in the appropriate barware, and you don’t want to skimp on your glasses! Different beverages are served in different glasses for a reason, not only does it help make your drinks look more professional, but the right glass can improve each drink. Depending on what you’re serving, the glass can have a huge effect.

Wine Glasses

Depending on what you will be serving, you may be able to get away with one type of wine glass, or you may want to invest in several. Some establishments are fine to use one, general purpose wine glass. If you have a wine heavy menu, you’ll want to get separate glasses for reds, whites, and sparkling wines. Sparkling wines, in particular, should always be served in narrow flutes to help preserve the bubbles. Meanwhile, reds are served in glasses with wide bowls to help them aerate and to allow the drinker to take in the aromas.

Highball Glasses

Like with a champagne flute, the high sides of a highball glass allow for carbonated beverages to retain their bubbles. Highballs are great for mixed drinks like bloody mary’s, mojitos, and other beverages that need plenty of space.

Old Fashioned

The shorter sides and thicker bottoms of these stout little glasses make them the perfect option for serving drinks like whiskey and scotch. The thick bottom keeps the drink further from the table, reducing the risk of water rings and heat absorption.

Pint Glasses

For a more all-purpose glass, pint glasses can be used for all manners of drinks. They’re the perfect option for serving beer as they allow for a nice head to form while pouring drafts. They also work well for serving soft drinks and water and can even be used as a cocktail shaker.
